Sea Of Love by Cat Power

cutouthertongue:

Come with me, my love
To the sea
The sea of love
I want to tell you
How much I love you

It is often said that eyes are the windows to the soul. When I first heard Sam utter the words “blackout windows” in 9x19 I immediately thought “black eyes”. In this scene they’re trying to determine if they house they’re in is where the vampires are staying, and I suppose that line was put in there to indicate that yes, vampires are here because they have blacked out the windows to prevent sunlight from getting in. However, there were many, many ways for the show to clue us in that Sam and Dean had the right house. But they chose this.
They chose to show us that the windows to a house being occupied by vampires, creatures who were the literal manifestation of toxic co-dependency in this episode, had windows that were completely blacked out.
The house overrun with vampires is destined to have it’s windows blacked out.
The man overcome with poisonous co-dependency is destined to have his eyes blacked out.
Foreshadowing that maybe the only way for Dean to be saved from total darkness is for him to finally learn to let go of the poisonous bond that caused all of this in the first place?

I can’t stop thinking about that line either and it wasn’t in the show but in one of the Jensen’s last interviews he said ‘Dean needs someone to open up a window for him soon’.

Not just open a window, but open a window and let light in… Since light can kill the evil inside.

And we all know who’s been associated with light for a long time now… :’)
